The headunit can be had on ebay (look at my first post) or sites like...

www.etronics.com
www.hookedontronics.com
www.onlinecarstereo.com

The DCI is available here....

http://marketplace.s2ki.com/s2ki/product.p...85&cat=6&page=1

If you buy in a store, you are paying retail, and at least a 1/3rd more. We all buy online all the time, so dont worry about it.

FWIW...NFRs2000NYC and the rest of these guys know their stuff. He is correct about the DCI (Dash Control Interface). It is no problem to install. I am only an electronics novice and I installed an entire new system:HU, front & rear speakers, two amps and sub as well as the DCI. If you can match colors and read a diagram you will have no problem. Good luck!

Hey-

Bought the HU today...but it is supposed to be a B-day gift, so it will not go in until July. Speakers and S-pods due for delivery tomorrow. My friend said he can hook up the HU, speakers, and XM commander / tuner for the HU. He said he will not mess with the DCI, as he has never touched one before and doesnt want to risk screwing anything up. I asked over at Best Buy, and they said it was only $35 to install one. I will buy one off the marketplace here, and let them install it. I have heard some things like the Modifry DCI not working with this HU in a few cases. If it happens to me, at least I will have someone to blame (Best Buy) and get a new one for free. I know they are really are shitty at installs, and overcharge like a M.F., but for $35, it is worth the extra security. Thanks everyone for all the input. I am REALLY looking forward to the new HU (had a Panasonic in my old Miata that was decent), as I have heard that Alpine music quality is amazing. Next I am thinking about a base tube / 1 sub in the trunk, just for added depth of sound. How much are those "stealth" boxes that slip into the little well in the trunk? Where can I get one? Are they cheaper to make (I am extremely handy with MDF and other woods). Any recommendations on a cheap amp for that? I do not need quality for pushing an amp, just around 200-300 watts for a single 10". May just consider a tube.

Thanks a TON!

John

waht is the difference between the Modifry DCI and the switcher unit that they recommend? The one they recommend is produced by JBL. They say its pretty much the same thing, but cheaper because it is mass produced. What is the difference? Is the Modifry designed specifically for the S2000? If so, I will go with that one. I think Alpine makes one as well, specifically for their HU's.
