Default XM Satellite Ready

I have an '07 which has the XM Satellite ready radio. In reading the Owner's Manual, it is my understanding that I should be able push the CD/XM button and have 'something' happen i.e. a sampling of music will play. Also shouldn't I be able to change the TUNE button to channel 0 to obtain the radio ID? Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

nothing will happen until you have installed the XM radio antannae. The head unit is XM ready meaning it is able to recieve XM but the reciever antannae is required. OEM one will require a hole in the center of the trunk that the wire runs through

I guess I was thinking that the 'stubby' antenna on the rear fender was also the XM radio antenna. Now that I think about it, it doesn't look like the typical satellite antenna. Thank you for setting me straight. Does the car already come pre-wired from the trunk area to the radio or must I fish the satellite antenna wire through the car to the radio? Thank you.

that I am not sure. I have never installed an XM reciever in an S2000. I took my factory radio out and replaced it with an Alpine headunit

Its a little more complicated that just connecting up an XM antenna and yes you usually have to drill a nice 1/2 inch hole in the trunk lid to install the little silver hockey puck sized antenna. There's a box that is installed next to the spare tire that connects the head unit in the radio to the antenna installed in the trunk lid. The car is prewired for the XM radio so its a matter of routing the antenna wire into the trunk area, mounting the box, and plugging in the connectors. Everything is in the kit. I bought the unit on-line from a Honda dealer on the west coast...forgot the name. I have a 2004 S2000 and did the installation in 2005 so don't know if anyone still carries the "kit" for the original radio. Since I drive back and forth across the US, the XM radio was a savior, particularly in West Texas!
