Default AEM EMS worth it?

I have an 03 with bolt on's. I have no intent on going forced induction but i would like a "reflash" to change the Vtech engagement and adjust for the bolt ons from factory settings. Do i need to shell out the 1,200 bucks for the aem ems if all im going to do is stay N/A? Or can I just have someone tune it for some cash and be good for a while? Thoughts?

Depending on what your bolt-ons are, the AP1's respond really well to a simple piggy back. You could go as cheap as a used V-AFC or splurge on an Emanage Ultimate.

BTW, don't forget tuning costs. The AEM EMS would cost much more to tune than a V-AFC

if you can find a emanage tuner than that would be the best. talk to your tuner and see what he wants to use. I have Aem ems and i love it. I'm turbo though

Car mods should NOT be decided by the heart (emotions). That just leads to an empty bank account.

I think you are over thinking my statement, it really meant for this particular case where he can't go too wrong with AEM. If he really is on a limited budget and bought a header instead, he might be wondering what he could be doing with the AEM.....

It's all about choice, if you know you lean a particular way (after the usual logics), go with it.
