AP1 FI best Engine manage
I see people talking about kpro and aem v1 for forced induction tuning for ap1 s2k's. In your opinion... out of every engine management option, , what would you go with and why. im looking for the most striaght foward without complications, and the best for tuning. im thinking about runing a 3bar map sensor so i can run more boost so what are the complications with this ? any adivce ? anything i need to know that i could have missed ? i know with kpro you need to change many items so i was leaning away from it.. but im just looking for your best imput thanks.
Only you can answer that, unfortunately.
Try answering these questions:
What is the car to be used for?
Do I need OBDII compliance?
Do I want stock features (a/c, instrument cluster, idle, emissions) or added inputs?
Who will tune it?
What's my budget?
How long will I keep the car?
After you answer that, you should be able to narrow it down a bit.

Umm the car will not be at the track super often. More or less just looking for the horse mid to high for more fun if that's even possible with these cars haha. I was to keep ac. Stock as much as possible. Is there a low budget and high budget option ? I'd rather sacrifice spending a few bucks as long as it works for all that and lasts a long time. So money is not my biggest issue because I want it done right. I just want as much stock as possible. But be able to put down the power range of 385-415 And be as reliable and to keep it as long as possible with ac and everything else. I'm still lOoking into as who's going to tune it. I'm looking for the best credible tuner in my area of northeast ohio
There is one simple question..... Do you need to maintain obdII and emissions compliance? If so then get k-pro! This choice will land you near or a little over the $2000 dollar mark before tuning even occurs as it requires changes to parts under the valve cover and the actual valve cover itself so that it is like an '06+ MY s2000. These parts cost somewhere around $400 and obvious time or money to put them in depending on if you are doing it or having it done. If there is no need for emissions compliance then AEM is your choice. The newest(most updated) version is the series 2. These can be had brand new from $1300ish. No modifications with this one. The least expensive and arguably best bang for buck would be the series 1 which can be had used(as they arent made anymore) for $800ish. There are a few things that need to be modified to make work e.g. the water temp doesnt work without a modification but then again with all the money you save its ok. The series 2 and k-pro do countless things the series 1 doesnt but this is not the place for that discussion as it has been hashed over too many times. As with every set up ive done on cars, Ive always told myself i was going small and bought parts that way. Take my advice and when you buy parts, buy them with growth in mind so that if you only want say 300whp there is enough injector and turbo or supercharger there to do 500whp. Its an addiction just like the next and this small bit of info will save you thousands on parts, time and labor! In relation to your choice, if you could ever see yourself moving to where you must have emission while in ownership save and get the k-pro. I not get the series 2 and save money that couldotherwise be spent on other modifications.
