why is KPRO weird?
a good tuner can utilize the e-manage with great results (Mase)
what about the Haltech?
Remove weird from my text and read the rest.

I personally don't know what it is like, but yes there is someone running it.

Here is a link showing how to chip an OBD2 ECU. It states it'll work on '96-01 ECU's. That covers OBD2A and OBD2B ECU's.
http://www.autoserve.8m.com/OBD2Emu2.html

Seems OBD2 ECU's use WORM (write-once read many) chips.
This was because there was no external prom for the fuel/ign tables. It was burned right into the main processor and this had to be done when the chip was burned, and could only be done once.

Interesting... I think Nissan S14 use the same technique and that´s why that extra PCB and chip needed to be added to the ECU.

The problem is to read the information when you´re in there.

Techtom provides the chips I believe. Don't see a Honda application, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

Yoshio @ Japanese Automotive use to provide Toda chipped OBD2A ITR ECU's. They used a Techtom chip I believe.

May be worth inquiring with one of them.

Honda went cheap on the AP1 ecu and used a non-flashable processor. The processor can be jumpered to read an external ROM, but rewriting the entire code externally is tricky with no notes. There is some interest in it on PGMFI right now, but it's a small group of people on that ECU. There is a 96k dump of the firmware, but it's binary code, and will take quite a while to crack. The current way of mounting the rom is a pogo board over the processor.
