Default FlashPro review thread

I got my FlashPro late in the day on 11/11/09. I figured it would be too much trouble to mess with it that night, so I waited until the next day. However, it just took a few minutes, to do my first flash! I went with the "S2000-US-2-Tuned" calibration since my only real mod is a PWJDM intake.

The car started easy, idled fine, drove great, and had as smooth of a power band as anything I was ever able to achieve with a VAFC. When I got back home after my first drive, I downloaded the datalogs, and started what I thought was going to be a long tuning process. Thankfully, the FlashProManager really makes that quick and easy! I made some quick changes to the fuel maps based on the suggestions made by the software, reflashed the ECU again, and went for another test drive.

I was expecting this drive to be less impressive since it was my first attempt at tuning it myself. However, it was even better than before! Great power, smooth VTEC transition, and 8500 RPMs. When I got back home and analyzed my datalogs again, everything was almost perfect. I just needed to make little 1-2% adjustments here and there, and I was done.

How many other FlashPro owners are out there? What were your tuning strategies? Please share your experiences.

BTW, after reading my post, I realize that I may have made it sound like everything about tuning the FlashPro is easy, but that isn't the case. Basically, I didn't want to try tuning areas that I don't have a lot of experience with, like ignition timing or partial throttle. I stuck with heavy throttle fuel tuning, VTEC engagement, and rev limit. I may test the other functionality after I learn more about it.

I also forgot to mention that the FlashProManager's data grid does allow copying and pasting with Excel (CTRL-C and CTRL-V). This makes it MUCH easier to maintain a history of your maps so that you don't have to ditch a whole batch of tuning just to reverse part of it. If I get some time, I may develop an Excel workbook with some automation to help fill the gaps that FlashProManager has.

Wow, good info gernby! So basically the software will make suggestions as to what should be changed in order to up the performance and it's up to you to decide whether you want to make those changes or not?

Thanks. It only makes suggestions for fuel tuning. I don't see how it would be possible for it to make suggestions for timing.

I also got the flash pro this week. I really like how easy it is to use and do adjustments. I wish the help files where a little more detailed and had more tuning tips for the s2000. I have no tuning experience but the flash pro manager is set up so you can see everything going on in your motor. Now i dont have to worry about my af ratios getting to lean or rich with added bolt ons. I just wish they would release some more calibrations with exhaust tunes. for another great product from hondata.

If your car is stock, then use the "S2000-US-2-Tuned" calibration, and go from there. The documentation that comes with the software is FAR better than anything I can provide. If you have any specific questions about it, send me a PM, or post it up for us all to give our thoughts. Good luck!

I was messing around with flashpro manager, and saw that there was a vtec window for the stock-tuned reflash (3200-6000). So does that mean vtec enages at 3200? Or this is where vtec can engage between?

Two things why may help you before you do that:
- have you used the undo history?
- table value change highlighting in the beta version.
Otherwise there is a planned change towards the end of the year which will help you.
