@Snake - Thanks for the props! I'm glad you are enjoying your tune! Your's was the first and only F20C I've done, but it was good to see that the F20C and F22C have such similar "profiles".

@Nik - I'd love to do a tune for you! I charge just $99, so let me know when you want to get started.

When I find a mint AP2 i will be getting gernby to tune it via the reflash. Only thing I dont like about the AP1 is the tuning solutions are expensive like hondata/aem...wish they had the flashpro for ap1!

Note that the '04-'05 AP2's have non-flashable ECU's, so if you want to use a FlashPro, you will need an '06+ AP2.

This sounds awesome, and may end up being my first mod. Are there noticeable gains in torque/drivability if the stock cat is left in place?
With the stock cat in place you'll be limited to something like a 5500-5600rpm vtec engagement. If you were to get a tune by Gernby I'm sure you'd see gains because the tune would be tailored to your car specifically.

I would highly recommend getting a testpipe, or at least a high-flow cat if your state does smog and/or you personally don't want to run a catless car. The difference you'll feel over stock with a properly tuned car that switches to the high cam in the mid-3000 rpm range is huge. With a high-flow cat you might not be able to go quite as low as 3600 (I'm betting Gernby knows) but it should still yield significant gains over a stock cat if you're going to spend the time/money to get it custom tuned.

Hey Syn, What modifications do you have on your car for the tune? intake? Exhaust? HFC/Test pipe?

I am looking towards flashpro recently as I have an '06 S2000 and dont want to go to something other then the stock exhaust. Right now performance wise I only have a FIPK. I dont mind upgrading to a HFC if that helps with a lower Vtec engagement though. Just curious what all you had done to yours prior to the tune.

EDIT: Just saw you only had a testpipe. Now im more intrigued as I want to keep my stock exhaust as well. Thanks for the review.

What about for those who really don't want to add a TP or HFC (would like to keep it CARB legal). Yes yes I know I wont see all the amazingness of a TP etc but I really would like to tune on just an upgraded intake. Would it be worth it to invest in Gernby tune over the generic FlashPro?

To my knowlege, the HFC is Carb legal. You'd buy a flashpro, then Gernby would tune it.

HFC (Berk) is definitely not C.A.R.B. Legal. Off road only in the great state of you know where. Just put one on my car and have the disclaimer.

Utah

P.S. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is not well understood in the other 49 states (e.g. Tifton Georgia). Lots of mis information here on many threads. When you see "49 State Legal"......California is the missing State.

Honestly, if you have the stock catalytic converter, there's really not much performance to be gained from a tune. However, if swap the intake, you may wind up with higher knock levels in the midrange, which will cause the stock tune to increase knock retard everywhere. In that case, you would benefit from an eTune, just to fix the low cam ignition timing.
