Hot starts
My car starts right up when cold, but its a different story when warm.
I read a bit and seem to have a good grasp on what approach to take here. I have been datalogging at different ECTs in order to make adjustments to the calibration that says "Water temperature fuel compensation cranking"
Does anyone know why in hell is this calibration set all the way to -18 degrees F but only goes to 197? I know that I can change those numbers, but before I start messing with that I would like to know if there is a reason.
I can see in Florida getting even to 30 deg F. I would like to change it to maybe 0 deg F to 215 degrees F
Any input on this? Thanks, J

Since the stock equivalent calibration shows the fuel compensation trim to -80.9 for the last 2 cells (179 F and 197 F), I believe anything above 197 will continue on the same slope (-80.9 %).
How is your setup so different from stock that it doesn't start easily with the stock settings?

KW SC + 725cc ID injectors.
I have the overall trim at -5%, and that takes care of the cold start. So I will make that -5% a 0 and adjust at the cold start ECTs ... Then I need to start playing with the hot settings.
What are your thoughts on the -18%? Is that for someone that leaves in Alaska or parks the car in a freezer? !!
I am just afraid that there is a purpose for those cold temps ... but so far I don't see why they could not be wiped out

If you live in a climate that only gets down to 32 F on the coldest night, then I don't believe you need to worry about the settings below that. I think Honda just needed to cover all possible termperature ranges. It seems more odd to me that the max temp in the table is 197 F, since I'm sure the guys in Arizona see ECTs higher than that. It seems to me that the importatnt thing is that the slope is right so that the ECU can interpolate the value that it needs.
I live in south Florida, so I rarely see anything below 40 degrees F. I think I will start from about 5 deg. F and bump the top part to about 215 deg F
Its good to have some of the cold correction in case I ever travel.
I was seeing ECTs in the 217 range after letting the car sit for 10-15 minutes. So far the worst is starting from 145-155 degrees F.
Thanks much for the input!

as far as fixing it, it's all trial and error.
