knock level
just a little bit of info here about how the knock works:
The knock sensitivity tables will not tune out knock counts if you're "ghost" knocking. All it will do is keep the ecu from retarding timing (useful with a loud valvetrain and aftermarket cams as it tends to REALLY screw with the knock sensor mic)
knock level has nothing to do with you being close to knock or not, it's just general mic sound level.
If you're getting 1 or 2 knock counts in only 1 or 2 cylinders and it's rare, and the car never retards timing, you most likely do not need to do anything.
A good way to be safe is either add individual cylinder trim for the ignition timing. It's very simple. If the car is still registering 1 or 2 knock counts occasionally after doing this, don't even worry about it.
cylinders 2 and 3 are more likely to register a knock since the mic is located inbetween them i believe.

what is an amount of knock to worry about and what is a negligible amount? after running my car pretty hard for approximately 90 minutes, I had a knock count of 7.
unfortunately, I didn't have it set up to datalog, just my "gauge" showed the # of knocks. I didn't have the gauge on the screen that showed the knock count, or I would've stopped after the first one.

I wouldn't consider 7 knock counts in 90 minutes to be significant, but you really should have datalogged it to see if there is a pattern to the knock counts (same cylinder, same RPMs, etc.) so that you can determine for sure if they are real knock counts or just ghost knock.
The wideband would be nice, but it would still be very helpful to know if the knock counts are occuring on the same cylinder at the same RPM each time. If you can identify some sort of pattern there, then you can try retarding timing at that RPM, or on that cylinder alone, or add 5% more fuel at that RPM or that cylinder to see if the knock counts go away.
