Default Monitoring knock on kpro

I am trying to get things in order here before I finish the turbo setup. For right now I have the car running absolutely awesome on a stock AP2 car.

I plan to run a GT3076R on a stock block for now until I can build a motor on the side down the road. Fuel tuning is pretty easy and straight forward. Timing is the thing that somewhat scares me with this car, since any other experience I have had with tuning were on factory turbo cars on AEM systems (supra, dsm, etc).

I have read of people on AEM systems switching from stock sensors to more sensitive ones to have a more reliable knock readings. How are some of the other tuners dialing timing in on stock motors with a kpro where you are limited to using the stock knock sensor?

I was looking into the newer K series sensors myself.

I finally found someone that shared my vision.

Have you tried one yet?

I would be interested to hear how you analysis I can run the FFT, but I am not sure I will be able to understand what I am looking at and then there is the aspect of engine geometry and transducer placement

[QUOTE=Evans Tuning,May 6 2009, 04:56 PM] Reading plugs is the only true way to tune a car properly on a dyno using Kpro.

another reason not to go k-pro. no knock, no AF, the most important for tuning and you dont have them, if you have a my 00-05 go with aem 1052u and a couple serial guages, a few sensors and you can monitor/with warnings everything you need.
k-pro is a joke in my opinion. FOR THE PRICE I should say it is a D#&N JOKE!

For what it is, it should cost between a stand-alone and a piggy back, but hey....people are buying it, so what do I know.

Have a read of the manual on Motec's latest knock control module.

Has some interesting info on how to use a shareware noise analysis program to identify knock in waveforms recorded while an engine is running.

Their knock module also syncronises to ignition events so its only sampling when it needs to.
