Default Mechanical overrev during upshifts

So the title says all, I have s/c ap2 running on flashpro and rev limiter is set at 8300 but I've seen 8500-8600rpm in the logs during upshifts (when the throttle is closed already), and today I even hit 8920rpm, how that's even possible? Jeff @Evans Tuning said that when you are off the gas injectors already shut off so no rev limiter can be in place. I'm wondering is that as bad as overrev during downshift?

I would say no its not as bad because there isnt a load on the engine.

A mechanical over rev on an up shift is from the momentum of the car pushing the motor past the rev limit. You can do things with timing to create a soft limiter to help prevent that.

An over rev during a downshift can easily be way worse and possibly life ending if it's a money shift.

Sounds to me like your rev limiter is NOT at 8300. However, it is normal to overshoot the rev limitter if you bounce it. Even with the stock calibration, my datalogs will show 8500-8600 if I bounce the limitter in 3rd gear. Note that when I say "bounce", I mean that I continue holding the throttle down while the engine keeps bouncing over and over on the rev limitter. If you are seeing 8900 in your logs even when you aren't bouncing the limiter, then something is wrong with your calibration.

I've seen similar--not to the extreme that you are reporting but more like the previous post. My redline is 8500 and I've seen 86xx when I accidentally tapped the limiter. If I shift before I actually hit the limiter I never see much higher than 8550 and normally it ends up being 8400-8450ish when I let off to shift. Maybe since you're boosted the car is just more prone to it since it is making power so much more quickly than stock? I am just guessing.
