Default New to Flashpro, New to tuning

So I'm going to be picking up my Flashpro tomorrow and I'm completely new to engine tuning altogether so I have a few questions:

1. My car is stock besides a PRM intake (short-ram, similar to a K&N in function for those who don't know). Will I be fine running the Stock Tuned setting or will my car have a chance of running slightly lean due to the intake?

2. In the case that I want to check my AFR's to be sure everything's safe, how exactly do I go about doing this? I know there is a datalogging button and that I should do a 3rd gear WOT run, but what are the specific AFR numbers I should be aiming for?

3. Anything else I should know as a relative newbie to this?

Hoping to get my car running smoother and better (hate the VTEC kick and the gimped rev limit), can't wait to get it!

Data logging is definately the key, when checking your AFR's after a run it is a good idea to log the AFR and the AFR Corrected values and then take an average of the two to get an idea as to where the values are at, Gernby checked the values against an accurate wideband sensor and found the values to be around the average of them.
An AFR of 13.2:1 is a good number to aim for at wide open throttle.

Adjusting your ignition maps is a little more complex, usually this is done on a dyno but you tune on the street aslong as you take it slow and advance the ignition by a degree or two at a time. if you find you get knock counts on certain cylinders then you can retard the ignition timing on these cylinders using the cylinder trims to try an get a more balanced set-up. Also dont go lowering your vtec engagement point without retarding this rpm range first as the timing is too advanced in this area of the map to bring the vtec down.

The stock tuned calibration will be fine to start with.

if you want to learn yourself you need to take conservative steps and slowly learn what everything is. just do A TON of research about it and make sure you feel comfortable doing it. do you have any mods planned in the future? header, exhaust etc?

Thanks for the info guys . I need to do more research on ignition, definitely not ready to delve into that quite yet.

So a good tune should have no knock counts at all after a spirited drive, correct?

As far as mods go, I may do a Greddy SE dual or possibly the new Tracy Sport 60 to 70mm single exhaust in the future, although a header probably isn't too likely since I'm a student working on a pretty limited budget. One day the car will probably be a fully built N/A monster, I need a career before that happens though .

You should datalog a spiritied drive with the stock tune first to see if you are getting any knock counts BEFORE you flash the new tune. It's very common for the knock sensor to pick up "ghost knock" from noisy valves, loose bolts, etc.

^ I'll definitely try that tomorrow.

I did some datalogging on the stock tuned and seeing all of these numbers is pretty intimidating I must admit, the car does drive well now however. Are AFR's in the high 13's OK below VTEC right after I go WOT?

Overall I feel that VTEC could be a hundred or two RPM's lower but I'm not gonna mess with that any time soon, I'm mainly enjoying the increased rev limit

If your AF Corr values are in the high 13's, then that is totally fine. My '08 AP2 and my brother's 100% stock '06 AP2 both have AF Corr values in the mid 14's with the stock tune. I tuned mine to bring the average of the AF Corr and AF values back down to about 13:1.
