Parallel ECU install
Hey everyone,
I've recently become highly interested in how engine management systems work and have a great thirst for more knowledge. I have used google and the search function on this site but still have some questions.
I was reading about a twin turbo Ferrari 458 and it got me thinking about parallel installs as the turbo 458 still used the standard transmission (obviously controlled by the stock ECU), as well as the stock gauges air con etc.
I assume for a parallel install to work you must limit what the stock ECU can control e.g connecting injector outputs to the aftermarket ECU but how come the stock ECU doesn't start throwing error codes. How is it tricked into thinking everything is normal?
