Hey guys!

I just bought a StarTech serial extension cable (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Tpk=12-200-248), however, it does not seem to work. I can't connect to the EMS with my laptop and neither do I get any readings on the serial gauge.
I want to hook it up to my EMS and tuck it away in the factory ECU location while having the flexibility to switch between the AEM serial gauge or hooking it up to a laptop for datalogging/modifying cals.


Any advice?

You might need one of these instead of the cable you purchased.

Straight through cable vs crossover cable, I don't know for sure though.

 

Faak, think you're right. Opened up that cable last night and there were like 7 wires running through it. Tried to cut and switch the blue and red ones around, but that didn't work either. Just ordered a straight through cable...

You may want to edit your link to this one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812196964) so that nobody orders the wrong cable if they stumble upon this thread in the future. The one you posted is a Female to Female which is no good for this application.
