gernby, did you manage to see differences in tq or HP output with a 2 degree change (+ or -) in ignition mapping?

Just curious if the logs will be able to show the differences. Thanks.

If your testing procedures are good enough, then you can easily see small changes in torque. However, there are parts of the RPM range that just don't seem to respond to ignition timing changes at all. I got very large gains in torque in the low RPM range (2K-3K) from ignition timing, but not much at all up top.

That maybe because you are past MBT already.

I started with stock timing, and increased it 1 degree at a time looking for power changes. If I went too far past MBT, I would expect power to start dropping.

I'll give this a try this week and get back to you. Is the first link your updated version?

Interesting, good work Gernby.

Most recently i tuned my car myself, whilst a dyno operator used the dyno however over a day or two i gained a big insight into how dyno's work and there negatives and positive, i cant believe some of the fine-tuning parameters that can be used - however it starts to get complicated.

The plot a dyno run makes compared to a road is different, this is based on me logging from a greddy EMU - so not flash pro.

Seems a great piece of software as dyno runs can be expensive, but I've got to agree on most (but not all) of b.r.i.a.n's points, most notably the ignition timing.

The download from the link in the 1st post is the most recent version that I've posted.

Thanks. I've tuned on a dynmo a couple times too. I agree that the plots will differ a bit, since you don't have aerodynamic drag on a dyno, and aerodynamic drag increases exponentially with speed. However, I don't think that gives any sort of "advantage" to conventional dynos (where tuning is concerned).

i have no idea how to work this. i saved my datalog as a ".csv". but it comes up as a "13 type mismatch"

ok i got it to work. sorta. i exported then opened it up with the soft dyno and then changed the data. well it doesnt come out right. that or my car is a F*ing beast because the "road torque" only shows from 3500 to 3600. the torque goes from 0 and skyrockets. now what?
