Connect laptop to ems, turn key light up dash (don't have to start car), click top menu/upload calibration/browse to downloaded file, and click upload, it'll ask you to turn off the key and then turn it back on, click okay

Sounds like you don't know how to use a computer
1Download the cal file attachment in your email to a folder you're familiar with ex. Desktop or local root c:/
2follow the directions I wrote above, and when you 'browse' for the cal file you direct it to the location you downloaded the email attachment.

I download it to my desktop then when I go browse for calibration it isn't there? Can't I just double click it on my desk top, it brings me to AEMtuner and to the map. Can't I just upload calibration from that point on?

use top menu > ECU > Upload calibration (EMS must be plugged in, key in, ignition on; don't start the car).
Browse your for the Calibration file you downloaded via email and then upload it.
there might be an option to upload 'currently loaded cal', not sure. it's not rocket science.

Yes, itll ask you to restart the ECU. Turn the key all the way off and then back on. Press enter to confirm that it restarted, then you can start the car and disconnect AEMTuner and the laptop whenever.

Seriously? Read the manual!

AEM produces great manuals for their products that should be the first step for any even considering buying an EMS.
