Boost will be lower due to the lower redline. That's about it I think.

The only things that are different in the kits that i can think of are the pully and belt.

what if I ended up dropping the rpm down 1000 so vtec kicks in at 5500 would that compensate?

^ No, your rpm band is shorter, your car would need to spin 9000rpm like a AP1 to produce the same boost with the same pulley. AP2 needs a smaller pulley to make the same boost 1000rpm sooner due to shorter red line..correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't do it.....

Buy the correct kit for the correct MY. Keep the CARB EO#'s correct, the Comptech warrantee and the FPR the way it was made to perform.

The kits are all the same, basicly. There is only a few minor parts that are changed from kit to kit. For MY04+ they changed the pulley and belt. They (CompTech) ran the MY02 kit on the MY04 during the development cycle. It ran fine, it just had a lower boost level because of the lower redline. You can order the belt and pulley from them and then the kit would be the same as if you bought it for an MY04+ in the first place. CARB cert and all.
