I agree. Just to have it sits nicely on your engine bay without much headache is around $10K (400whp).

Here is your best bet the way I see it and it leaves much to be desired. I have 10K in my car and have only scratched the surface. Oh and the clutch will slip regardless of if you drop it or not. If you drop it you will likely shell the rear end or destroy axles. As far as good instructions and proven kits from my experience Inline has been very good, they are not the cheapest but you really do get what you pay for. For all those that built their own this is no issue but weekend warriors like me want a well engineered product to run with. From what I understand Inline will be able use many sizes of turbo's so if the t3/t4 is too small I am sure than can go bigger.

Oh, and this is no bolt-on, you will need to pull the head, transmission and modify many other parts to do this correctly. I you are talking about adding an intake, exhaust and a few small jobs as your experience you may want to seek assistance. I know the first time I pulled a motor I had no clue what I was doing and made a lot of mistakes I paid for later on.

From my experiance here is the absolute lowest to get near your mark with your qualifications.

Inline Pro Base $3500+
Inline Pro Accesories $1600
UGEO, BB Upgrade, HG, Injectors, Fuel Rail Adapter, I/J Clips, Map
Filter Relocation Kit $300
Hondata $1500+
Boost Controller $100+
Clutch $800+
MISC Fluids and parts $400
Professional Tunning $600+ (Tim Heron @ LS Honda)
========================================
Total $8,800

^All of that is if you install it all yourself, which you can't do. Especially the clutch unless you really know what you are doing. He also doesn't have exhaust/test pipe in there either which you are probably looking at another $800 at least.

I don't see anyway you can get out of getting a 500whp kit running correctly and safely for under 11-12 thousand.

I spent 11k with tuning, clutch, gauges. I did install myself. I made 543whp. This was with a full-race kit.

and this would probably only put down 450WHP

If you were really skimping 9K might do it.

a RELIABLE 500 hp. Is there a kit where you spend 12k take care of it and dont have to continue dumping thousands into the car? Or is that pretty standard if you want to run with the big boys

If you can find a reliable 500 whp turbo kit that doesn't have at least some problems, let me know. You are going to run into some kind of problems more than likely.

I got a quote from in-line pro for the full deal, installed out the door with-out an exhaust and gauges. It was over 10k with the S2k discount. It's a great kit and lots of room to grow. The Kraftworks is a good option for the newer cars as well. A used greddy kit or SC may be more in your budget. Also make sure to check with the tuner you want to use.
