Default 1lb of boost = how much HP?

Hey guys if the Greddy kit runs 7-8PSI stock, the most I would want to go up to would be 9lbs, maybe 9.5lbs of boost, what is the HP difference? is it around 1lb of boost=10WHP?

That's a pretty small turbo...I imagine it's running well within its efficiency range at 7psi. I am just speculating, but I don't think you'll make more than 320whp at 9/10psi.

yah, I don't think its really worth it to get a Boost controller, I would not want to go above 9 anyway

Just doing a simple calculation...

Stock hp= 200rwhp
greddy turbo hp= 280rwhp

280-200=80rwhp from turbo so 80rwhp/7psi=11.4rwhp per psi to answer your one question.

By linear interpolation (big assumption here):

80rwhp/7psi = xrwhp/10psi ----> x=114rwhp so 200+114= ~315rwhp.

Granted there are a lot of assumptions in my calculations (a big one of which is that I assumed power delivery vs psi is linear which anyone that can read an efficiency chart knows this is not true) but you get the general idea.

Taking into account error and all my assumptions, I'd say it'll be approx. 300rwhp @ 10psi

Under ideal conditions one bar (14.5 psi) will add 100 percent to the baseline hp. Thus each one psi will add ~7 percent.

In the real world it requires good operating temperatures, correct fuel and tune to approach this number.

Take your baseline hp, divide by 14.5 to start. This number is the max you can add per psi for calculations. It will usually be a little less.

ok so 9.5 psi wil give me very generally ballparking here, 10whp up from the basemap of 8psi on the Greddy. The thing is I spent lets say $4,000 for 80hp it would be stupid not to spend another $300 for 20-30whp (buying the Boost controller), but I drive this car a lot and I feel as though that extra 10-30WHP, will be slightly insignificant, at around 280WHP other then saying "I put down over 300WHP on a dyno". I feel the extra HP from upping the boost may not be worth it (extra stress on the engine/tranny blah blah blah)

discuss..............

Anyone with the name "balls" has to go for it.

Every increase in hp will result in that much more fun driving this little car.
I'm pushing 450+ right now and the drive train is just fine. Don't abuse it, use it.

haha yeah, well whats a safe level of Boost on the Greddy kit with a good tune, and stock HG, 9.5-10psi, I know people go higher but I want to stay conservative
