Default 2 final questions for SOS build

1. I'm torn between getting a 3.4" and 3.6" pulley. Power is intoxicating, but reliability is equally important. As previously mentioned I'm shooting for 400+whp on my AP2. My only other mods will include a test pipe. Thoughts?

2. I'm really torn on clutch setups... I know ACT HD PP's had issues years back. But I like the idea of ACT PP, oem disc for oem feel.

But, my greatest fear is buying a clutch that can't hold the power. The SOS clutch is right on the border. Too close for comfort.

Finally, how crucial is an AP1 flywheel? Definitely worth it? If I'm spending a few hundred bucks on a flywheel is there a better option than ap1 oem??

Thanks all for the ongoing support. I can't wait to surprise unsuspecting domestics and euros come summer!

3.6" on the 1200 blower should net 400whp right?

I have the ACT HD PP and oem disc and its awesome. It definitely isn't "JUST LIKE OEM" it is absolutely heavier, my ankle actually started hurting a bit about a week after I got it, (I have weak ankles though, even at 24 yrs old lol) but after about a month, my foot is stronger and I have no issues with it, I don't think the clutch is heavy and it feels normal to me now. This combo is supposed to be able to hold 300wtq no problem. It's the torque figures you need to look at, not the power. I would recommend it honestly, I like my set up so far.

Keep in mind though! When you change out the clutch, you'll want to at least resurface your flywheel, if not get a new one, you'll want new clutch and flywheel bolts, maybe new subframe and tranny mount bolts as well, and depending on how old your car is, you may want to replace the clutch slave and master cylinders also.

As far as flywheels go, I have an AP1 S2000, so my flywheel was originally 14 lbs, and I got a chromoly 10 lb flywheel and holy crap did I notice a difference! The car is SO much more fun to drive now! Downshifting is easier, the car just feels a lot more peppier and thats only from a 4 lb drop. I would advise on AT LEAST an ap1 flywheel, I didn't think I would notice a difference anyways so I just got 10 lbs instead of 8 lbs, but now I really wish I had just gone all out and done as light as possible.

I would not get a 3.4 on the chance that you may run out of fuel, since AP2s tend to do that when you get into the 400s. I have the SOS clutch kit and like it a lot. Its quiet and holds strong.

I dont know about the flywheel, so let us know what you choose and how you like it.

I would also love to get an answer for question #1 as I will be buying a SOS kit with the 1200 in a few months and will be aiming for 400-420whp.

Great replies thus far thanks! If love the SOS clutch kit, but I think it's rated at 250wtq MAX. Could just be too close for comfort.

Anyone have recommendations for Flywheel manufacturers?

Also if anyone has part numbers for the bolts listed in liquid helix's post.

As for fuel I have ID1000s and will be getting a 340lph pump.

I second the act clutch with oem disc not the act disc. It holds my 567 whp and 379 torque no problems. I used the competition 11.5lb flywheel and it drove like stock only heavier feel. Just get the act and don't look back.

Wow, impressive. So this kind-of confirms that the ACT HD PP is suitable for pretty much any of the supercharger kits out there for our cars. None of those kits will get up to 350+ wtq.

I would definitely upgrade to a lighter flywheel while you're at it. If you can get a good condition AP1 flywheel for cheap than its worth it. If not, might as well go all the way and get an even lighter one. I have an 8 pound flywheel waiting to be installed, just waiting to buy my clutch. I'm going to go with a Competition Stage 4. It's still a spring clutch and can easily handle the power a SC s2000s can make

Any reputable brands for the flywheel?

Any reviews for the competition clutch?

These are the only 2 pieces I'm still unsure of.

It's hard to make a bad flywheel lol some argue a lightweight aluminum flywheel may warp overtime from heat. Chromoly is usually the material people recommend. It's strong and light.
There are plenty of people rocking Competition clutches. Do a quick search and you'll find your answer. The stage 2 is a 6-puck which is what I wanted to avoid. The stage 4 is still sprung.
