Didn't read all the posts so forgive me if I`m missing or repeating information.

Connected mine for the first time yesterday and this is what works for me.

Install AEMTuner 3.2
Turn your ignition to ON
Plug in USB to laptop
Your laptop should now install drivers
Open AEMTuner
Click on ECU at the top menu of AEMtuner and select ``ECU Connection Preference`` change it to USB.
Click on ECU at the top again and select "Connect to ECU"
You should have it connect right away

I`ll repeat somethings I found since it may help someone else in the future.
- based on the AEM forums the V2 has issues with USB 3.0 ports, so try other ports.
- If you are on Windows 8.1 AEM tuner has known issues with it. You will get the progress bar you see above, and ``ECU Connection Error`` msg at the bottom beside the red dot, when this happens pull out the USB and plug it back in. Random I know but it works.

Now in your case based on the the window you have open I see its trying to connect USB to Serial. I suspect you have a fresh install of AEMTuner on that machine and its defaulted to Serial port, change it to USB and you should be fine.

To summarize his experience - with 3 different laptops and 2 different AEM EMS's, there is no indication the computer ever even saw a USB device attached. So the problem seems to be "earlier" than where the AEM software would come into play.

Correct. ^^^

I HAD to take a break from the garage and car for a day. Just to clear my mind. I'm going in tonight and re-tracing all my steps and follow up with some new suggestions I have not tried either. We'll see what happens.

This is actually a REALLY great step by step on how to connect IF you're laptop is able to detect a connection. So envious of you.

I know with the serial connection I have to cycle the key off then on. Try that. Of no go I'd source a laptop with a serial connection. I have a 14 year old laptop I only use for connecting to AEM and a predator tuner.

My EMS v2 will not connect using the usb cable. I had to buy a serial to usb adapter and used that to connect. You might have to play with the channels to find the correct one. My tuner said it was not the first time he ran into that issue as well. I will be sending my EMS to AEM for service.
