3mm headgasket install question
Just in the middle of the install, About to finish cleaning the block/head and then put it back together.
Is there any use to putting gasket maker in this area like the honda manual states and as this guy did here? Seems completely pointless since the head will not come close enough to the block to create a seal other than the hg? Thoughts?

Honestly it can't hurt anything, We put it there when I did my Friends replacement Headgasket. Key word, replacement. The original Inline-Pro 3mm Gasket(which blew) installed by IP had no sealant, so...it's pretty much 100% up to you.

its meant to keep oil from seaping in on the oem gasket. it wont come close to touching the top, but if you put it right up against the edge of the gasket to case enclosure, it could act like caulk. lol
on oem, yes def. on a giant 3mm..... doesnt serve a purpose unless you seal it like i said above.

I actually put my permatex RTV sealant in the area where I knew the new 3mm HG would come in contact with it and seal. I just put a good thick bead down on the block and head and then smoothed it around to where the HG will seal in it. The way this guy did it in the pics wont seal on anything unless he put a 5mm thick bead down. LOL
