Default 4.4 pulley to 3.2 SOS STAGE 2 KIT

Hi Guys

Thinking about upgrading to a 3.2 pulley soon! As you can see below the car made really good power with just 8psi, fingers crossed i will be able to get myself into the 400WHP area once i have had it amended / retuned.

So, bit of a pointless thread really, but am i going to notice much different regarding the drivability of the car once i double the PSI? I mean, it feels pretty dam quick as it is, but im hoping this is going to make it " suck you into your seat and tickle your balls" quick.
Obviously im going to be putting more strain on the engine with more boost, but im guessing most of you guys running this kit have used this sort of pulley with your car as a daily?
Really looking forward to getting it back on the dyno, i've read mixed reviews about the belt slip issue with the 3.2.
Some say theirs has been fine, some say it slipped, is it worth me purchasing a 3.4 instead to guarantee im not going to get any slip?

Cheers

Elliot

You will more the double your psi with the 3.2 if you rev it to 8500. The actually blower speed cap is 8350rpm I have gathered, which is where I have my rev limit capped. I don’t know what it makes to the wheels because I haven’t dyno'ed it. I do see 16.5psi during the summer/warmer months and logged 18psi so far this year at about 40 degrees. I am also on a lower compression motor, so technically I should be seeing about 1 - 1.5psi less then someone on a stock compression F motor. I do not have any belt slip issues. If you want to keep your current 8500rpm limit id probably go with the 3.4" You should easily crack well into the 400's with that pulley. I would be curious to see what you make with the 3.2" though What ever you go with, be sure and post up your dyno run overlay with this one for our comparison.

You will def notice a big difference, you will be making that peak 8psi of boost much earlier in the powerband. Your midrange will have a nice bump for sure. With a 3.2" pulley at 8.5k I would imagine you would be kissing 500whp and 300+tq

Good God, 382 HP and nearly 250 ft-lbs on 8 PSI?!? Those numbers seem high to me, especially for a Dyno Dynamics. On that dyno you will be faaaar into the 400's with a 3.2" OR 3.4" pulley.

I felt the biggest difference in the mid-range power when I went from 7 PSI to 13 PSI.

Thats what I thought the dyno numbers are pretty high but we get the point and I would love to see the comparison when he get a smaller pulley

Going from a 4.4 to 3.2 is a pretty bold move, but more power to you(pun intended). Unless I was adding meth injection, or my motor was built(note S2000junky is both) I would not go lower that 3.6". Did you mention which compressor you have?

Now I have a 3.8" pulley, Novi 1220, 8#s of boost, 378WHP and 250 TQ, on a DynoJet.

A 3.6" would get me into the 400s, I could add timing and get 400 now if I wanted to. My tune now is a conservative one and the car starts and idles like stock hot or cold. Do you want to give up reliability for more HP? Do you want to put your rear end and gear box at risk? Some guys do not care about those things. HP comes at a cost. Are your injectors and fuel pump big enough for the increase?

SOS says:
higher boost pulleys: ScienceofSpeed recommends not more than 9 PSI for use with 91/93 (USA standard rating) octane. Customers may choose any higher boost pulley (list available here) at no extra charge for applications using race fuel or E85. Please submit this form with your order.

Hi Guys

Thanks for all your feedback, much appreciated.

Firstly, i know there is a high chance the dyno could be slightly out, however i shall most likely go back to the same one just so i can get a good comparison of the jump up, i'm also not one to chase numbers so as long as it feels better i'll be happy!!
it's strange as i was certain most dynos in the UK came up a lot less generous than what you guys have.
My tuner did say the dyno is pretty spot on, and even he was shocked after he mapped the car as he has not seen the SOS kit before.
I think he's mapped a fair few S/C s2000's on that dyno, he told me before he did the tune i should expect around 320 @ the fly. When he got out the car shaking his head in shock looking confused as hell i thought something had gone wrong haha!

I've definitely got the supporting mods to run a 3.2 pulley, bar the map sensor (another pun )
I'm currently running a novie 1200,AEM v2, walbro 255 & id1000's on 99 octane so im hoping that will be sufficient.

I think my best bet will most likely be a 3.4, im confident the rear end will hold up. I never launch it and i doubt i will be taking it to the 1/4 mile. I guess thats enough to hit around 14-15psi without any slip! I look forward to that extra mid range power!
I shall certainly keep this thread updated once i have the new belt / pulley on the car and a re tune. If anyones interested here is my project thread.

I shall i also be travelling the US next April for a month so i may try and come to a meet or show.
I shall definitely be stopping by at SOS as im staying in Scottsdale for a week.

Cheers
Elliot

Hmm, really no more than 9psi on the 1200 with 93 to be on the safe side?

I'm currently running the 3.2" on an f20c, but only seeing 13psi, and am at 365whp. No belt slip as I've tightened the bastard. I'm not sure what's holding back my psi/numbers. Still running stock exhaust, so an likely going to get the js racing and t1r em sparrow dual exhaust and see if I can get close. Would love to be at 450-500 though..

Its the F20c thats holding you back. Im pretty sure that SOS warns against using anything smaller then like a 3.4 on the f20c motor for it will over spin the blower.
