xI don't think a 3" exhaust will make more power over a 4" at 600 whp on a turbo car but I do believe it would be a waste of money to go to a 4" unless you are way up there in power
How is it a waste of money? How much did you spend on your 3" I spent less then $200 on my 4".

Zero, Andy, beleive it or not a 4" really isn't that loud. I'm running a 4" down pipe to a 4" exhaust without a muffler. Normal driving I can talk on my cell or to a passenger without any issues. When you get on it, well that's a whole other story as you can hear in my tuning video. If someone wanted a 4" I wouldn't let noise be the deciding factor. Again, it's not as loud as one might think.

[QUOTE=Joe @ Tempest,Sep 22 2009, 06:49 PM] the dyno chart above is no changes other than the exhaust. sorry, probably should have posted that.

first thing is finding a plug and play ecu solution thats not aem and is more flexible than hondata.

i have absolutely nothing to gain from posting a bs dyno chart. i agree it was a huge increase...hence the reason i have the graph saved. this is not the first time i have done before and after with 2.5 to 3". these are the biggest gains i have seen, but the gain are pretty much always VERY worth while.

same car, same dyno, different exhaust. dont know what else to tell ya haha

is every car going to see these results? very unlikely. wish i had the logs from the car, that was a few years ago.

Man its weird how those numbers work out almost exactly like mine and we've never even met... I'll email him and let him know to throw away his physics book too. Us engineers really had the blinders pulled over our eyes in school I guess.

Anyway I have a 4" exhaust, next time I am on the dyno I will swap a 3" strait pipe on and let everyone know the results. My car currently makes exactly 600whp and there will be no other variables.
you sir rock.

When I went from a 2.5" to a 3" I gained about 22hp.

It is loud, but you know what...you like it and your car hauls a$$ so its worth it. Not to mention it was cheap for you.

(75whp) gain from a 1/2 increased sized exhaust on this car at this power range with no other boost increase/mods etc. and never mind the variables with this car, 75whp gain from just an exhaust on anything is extremely uncommon and very far fetched.

what website is this again? should know better then to post some crap like this.
ummm, its from joe's dyno. I wouldnt call it crap..........

I spent about $1400 on my exhaust that is 3 inch that Y's to 2 2.5 inch pipes in the back and is complimented with 2 magnaflow free flowing mufflers. I figured that to change pipes to 4 inch that Y's to 2 3 inch pipes with my same setup with the magnaflow mufflers would probably cost another $500-700 for fabbing and parts and thats why i didnt think it would be cost effective for the minimal gaines as im already at roughly 600 whp with the way it is now.

i dont have the dyno graphs b/c i dont work at the same shop anymore, but i had a turbo b16 pick up 85hp going from a 2.5inch dp/stock exhaust to a 3inch turbo back.

another example, a 2liter b16 turbo made 35hp with a cutout, it had a 3inch turbo back as well. the cut out was at the end of the downpipe. that was at 450hp.
