Trying to pick a gear set for my 8.8 set up I have a 99 cobra diff want to rebuild track loc, fordracing diff cover, and replace gears with 3.73 because I want to use the fordracing gear set. Not sure if my power is to low for 3.73, the 3.9 would be best I think but fordracing doesn't make that ratio. I hear that the other brands are very loud, and I would think ford would make the best gear set for their diff. Any info would be great thanks. tire size 255/40zr17 ap1 transmission

 

I wanted to try the 3.7 in my diff but it was an extra $900 for that gear set in the stock diff. The 3.9's are nice at 440whp

 

i have a richmond gear 3.9 and ill admit its so loud, but 3.7 is too long for that much power

 

That's what I was afraid of, what power level is good for 3.73? do you know if the motive gear set is any quieter?

 

id say 600hp +, cant comment on the motive
