Default aem ems

I hope someone can help. I've been trying to connect to my ems (1052u) but the screen keeps saying "ecu off line". It says the same thing whether I'm connected to the ecu or not. I'm also using the I/O gear usb/serial adapter. Can it be the adapter or do I have another problem? Thanks.

i had the same issue, if you have not done so already i believe there is a post and a download on the aem forums to get a patch for using a usb

if you have and i had this problem yesterday, whilst plugged into the ecu i went to the ecu tab and went to the conection port and checked it was the correct port then it connected

Change the setting from USB to COM.

If it is "querying ecu" but saying "ecu offline" in the background then your computer (laptop) is recognizing the usb adapter but the AEM isn't. I had the same problem using a cheapo usb adapter. Got one from Radio Shack and it works fine now. Hope that helps.

Most people just recommend using an actual serial port rather then a serial-->usb connector.

Granted most laptops don't come with serial ports anymore but you can always get a PCMCIA serial card for your laptop

That's exactly what it's doing. That sucks that I just spent $40 on something that doesn't even work.

Anyone have one that they are willing to let me try so I don't have to keep buying more of them and finding out they don't work.

Get the Radio Shack one, AEM recommends it and I've personally seen 2 'work' in the last month.

Aem also recommended the I/O gear one that I bought and it didn't work.
