Thumbs up AEM EMS and VTEC question

My current throttle req. is set at 60%, what means if I don't press the hot pedal more than 60%, I stay on the low cam even above 6000rpm.

What makes me a bit worried if it's "healthy" to drive at 7500rpm on the highway (yes we drive this fast on highways here) and still stay on the low cam . A stock car would be in VTEC no matter what tre throttle possition is as long as it revs above 6000rpm, right?

Should I change it back with my next re-tune? Tuner said a year ago "you don't wanna be in VTEC unless you need the power", but I trust Honda more than a tuner.

Please give me some input.

You don't want to be in high cam just crusing down the highway. The whole point of the low cam is low RPM drivablilty and fuel comsumption. Even the stock ecu has a throttle %, this isn't something AEM just decided to add. Mine is at 75% btw.

The ECU looks at RPMs, throttle position, and MAP to determine load. Load is the equivalent single variable that determines cutoff/ engagement points in VTEC. But in the ECU, load is a 3D map of RPM vs TPS vs MAP.

You shouldn't be in VTEC while cruising, even at 7000 rpm. VTEC is only for high load conditions.
