Default aem a/f ratio gauge question

i'm running the comptech w/ ac on 6 psi, and i installed the aem a/f ratio gauge today. i pluged the sensor into the 2nd bung (the nearest one to the straight pipe)in my J's racing header.

the gauge is brand new, and i believe there's nothing wrong with it. when i start up the car, it will read 14.x and the number will gradually go down.

i drove the car for about 3 hours after the install. under normal driving, the gauge will read 10.0 all the time, with the occasion reading of 11.x

but when i push the pedal all the way down and go past 6k to 8k, the a/f gauge still reads 10.0, and not a difference.

now my question is if my readings are normal and correct? if not, what's wrong?

I think they're wrong. There's got to be a malfunction in the AEM gauge or your car is actually running that rich. I think it's the gauge.
Under steady state running at operating temp, the reading should fluctuate quite a bit - bouncing up and down in around the 14.x
When you let off the gas, the gauge should show "----" because the injectors shut down.
At WOT, mine goes down to around 12.0.
Your start up a/f seems to be about right.

You should double check the wiring to make sure they are all connected to the right places.

I think that you are running uber rich. Im pretty sure the aem guage doesnt go below 10 to 1. I would adjust your fmu, back it off 1/4 turn then run it. see if it goes up.

Also, check your plugs to see if they are showing signs of burning rich.

The sensor needs to be on an angle, not sure if your headers setup to support it. I had mine welded to my test pipe. Ill post pics tomorrow if you need to see.

I think most a/f gauge 02 sensors are to be mounted within 18" of the exhaust ports (ie, best mounted in the header near where the stock primary sensor is located).

Here's a thread I did on my UEGO install:
