Default AEM map sharing?

I just did some searching and I only found a small handful of threads regarding map sharing for the aem 1052. I recall (or think I recall) a thread a while back about fellow s2k'ers who were willing to share their maps (base maps) to help guys get to their tuners and to tune themselves. I was only able to find one thread that was not that in depth.

Am I going loopy and I'm just confused because of the map sharing Emanage Ultimate thread or was there a more in depth sharing thread for the aem users?

i know this sucks to hear, but honestly, the aem base map aint that bad to start with. it will get the car started, and idle. from there, you really need to dial everything in , trims, fuel, ignition..blah blah.

i spent over an hour just messing with idle and cold start, yes, IDLE. now, starts like stock, idles like a champ.

bottom line, i support doing it yourself, i did with the help of a friend that taught himself, and then we brought it to mase that gave me pointers on what we had created.

small steps, and start from conservative. rent dyno time, and see foryourself what AF and timing works best. side note, the aem base map is ap1. soo keep that in mind when messing with things.

good luck, i mean the worst that can happen is popping the motor

Agreed. For a stock base map, the 1012 and 1052 maps from AEM are quite good. I generally do a few tweaks, but nothing too crazy. It's when you start changing injectors, MAP sensors, or adding boost that a new base map becomes necessary.

How far off did you guys have to change the initial "verify timing" procedure with the basemap? Is it safe to start without turning the injectors off? Or do they tell you to do that because they don't want you to wash down the cylinder walls if you have big injectors?

I have stock injectors and don't have a timing light to verify it. My tuner a couple miles away does though.

it can be way off. you have to dial that in first. and you need to turn off the injectors so that the car doesnt start while your trying to get base timing set

if base timing is off, EVERYTHING for timing after that is off.
