I welded a bung on the charge pipe to keep things sealed and the stock res holds a gallon with the pump under it there is gravity helping feed the pump and my charge line is 5 feet long. i have run 100% meth in the tank with no ill effect due to the res being out of the engine bay. As long as the fender liner is in good shape and you use good lines you wont be messing with the pump. If you loose prime you can take the jet apart hit the purge button to clear the air then reassemble. I use an a/c o ring to seal the jet to the bung so i don't destroy the plastic washer
