Oops...sorry...I thought I had read it was 2k cheaper somewhere.

I know Inline Pro is pushing the Hondata's now. I don't believe they have been satisfied with AEM's customer service and the number of defective units they have had to deal with. That'd be something to consider as well.

All I can tell you is that my experience with the AEM EMS has been a good one. I took my time and learned the software and read and asked lots of questions before tuning my car. It was a slow process but it can be done and you'll come away with a skill you can take to your next project.

I have never lived in a state that does a visual inspection so I was unaware of that. I thought they just did OBD II scans that was it...a visual inspection would suck!

An AEM EMS is no were near $2K cheaper than K-Pro for an AP1. MSRP to MSRP:

1. AEM EMS: $1785

http://www.aempower.com/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductID=681

2. Hondata K-Pro with necessary parts: $2195

http://www.hondata.com/s2000kpro.html
Members have found 1052's for $1000 brand new. 1200 is the average. The hondata will still be 2100 plus the labor for the needed parts.

I am talking MSRP vs MSRP. I am sure the cost of the K-Pro unit will come down some eventually...just like the AEM EMS did over time.

Also, although it doesn't apply in this specific case, K-Pro includes Wideband 02, so you really should be comparing it to a 1052U, which is another $500.

When comparing prices, you have to compare them at MSRP. You cannot compare one item at MSRP with another item bought from some guy behind K-Mart.

Obviously. However, the fact of the matter is that, as of right now, no one is paying MSRP on the EMS. Show me a $500+ discount on the KPro on the free market.

Look, we arguing about price and there's no denying that the KPro is substantially more expensive than the AEM EMS. The question is, what are you willing to pay for OBDII compatibility? Also, I would like to see a direct comparison in the software that comes with the Hondata as compared to the AEM EMS. Is the Hondata software easier to use or more functional?

Again, given the some amount of time on the market the K-Pro may be offered at a price lower than MSRP. When the AEM EMS was initially released, it was automatically discounted by authorized dealers. Like everything else, it takes time on market for prices to be reduced.

You would need to ask that question to tuners like Shawn Church, Jeff Evans, etc. I have had both products and prefer the K-Pro. That is just my preference though.

The following items must be replaced before the S2000 K-Pro can be used. These parts are not supplied by Hondata and should be purchased from a Honda dealer.

*

Crank sensor 37500-PZX-003
*

Crank wheel 13622-PCX-013
*

TDC sensor 37510-PZX-003
*

TDC wheel 14112-PCX-003
*

Valve cover 12310-PCX-020
*

Drain plug washer (for PCV valve) 94109-14000
*

PCV valve 17130-PCX-003
*

IAT sensor 37880-P05-A00 (not required, but stock IAT will read about 30 degrees hotter)

The approximate cost of these parts is $300-375.

that's expensive.

only if AEM EMS could have a OBDII port...
