Basically it seems if you need the obdII port then go with the kpro otherwise there is no reason to spend the extra money. My tuner suggested AEM and thats why I run it. My car runs and drives awesome.

I know that I will be going krpo. It is not that big of a deal to shell out a couple of more dollars, than have to pray that I have the worlds top tuner to tune my AEM. Thanks for the informative feedback
this statement is retarded. you dont need the worlds top tuner for aem. you need a compentent tuner regardless of what you choose. to spend extra money for no other reason is dumb. if you have emissions, go krpo, otherwise, whats the damned point.

my perspective may be a little different.

I looked at the 'cost' of getting the KPro. In my state, NJ, they need OBD-II compliance. I was able to 'procure' a sticker for around 150. For me to upgrade would mean the new parts for my ap2 motor, the actual KPro, and 600 for a new tune. Considering that i don't count the 'cost' it takes for me to find the inspection, i can keep getting new stickers for a LONG time, before the upfront cost pays off.

I have had no real issues with the driveability of my AEM EMS tuned car and i put 20k miles a year on it.

so because I can get my car to run just fine on AEM I'm one of the "world's top tuners" huh. wow, didn't know it was that easy Mase better watch out, I'm a top tuner in the world now

sarcasm aside if you're tuner is too incompetent to tune a car with AEM I wouldn't let him touch my car with any ECU. after setting up an AEM in my buddy mark's car I was able to show him how to log and fine tune part throttle AF ratios in just a few minutes, and that's a guy who never tuned a car before.

If you get kpro you still need a good tuner. In fact equally as good as AEM. Its not like you need a good tuner for aem and could get away with a crappy tuner for kpro.

Aem ems can be had for around $1100, no one is going to spend $1700 on it. Kpro installed is around $3300...

Not entirely correct. If the smog station does a visual check, they could find the Hondata unit and therefore disqualify you.
Since when do smog techs do a visual on the ECU ? I'm in the process of getting my smog license and never heard of doing a visual on the ecu.

I did not know that. It does seem though that most people boosting their s2000's are pre 06.
