Default AEM Wideband controller 30-2310

Hey all,

Anyone that has this wideband model can you tell me if you hooked up your sensor ground or not? I currently have it hooked up. When I calibrated this specific model to my AEM v2 EMS it specifically said to make sure the brown sensor ground was hooked up-- So I spliced it into C18(I think) and the difference in reading went from 14.x at idle and cruising to 11-12 at idle and cruising. I'm using an AEM serial gauge so it's reading exactly what my EMS is reading.

I checked my plugs and they do indeed look a little black.. not moist or anything.. but definitely running rich. I took some fuel out of my -12 to -4 PSIg and my EMS is showing better AFR's around 13s/14's at cruise and idle. The car used to pop when I shifted sometimes (I'm assuming because of unburned fuel getting into the exhaust and igniting because my knock sensors are showing next to nothing) and now it appears that is gone.. Would you guys trust the sensor ground connected or not connected? The tune is a Jeff Evans e-tune from another vehicle of the same year with exact same parts.. I'm wondering if the dude before me had his wideband hooked up incorrectly and Jeff just tuned it to that.. because without the sensor ground hooked up it seemed pretty dang legit as it came.

Thoughts? Also I'm wondering if the FUEL sock would change the amount of fuel your injectors are being fed... He used the aftermarket sock that came with the 320lph pump and I used my OEM one.

I should add that the only reason I'm doing this is to make my car safer for the drive up to my tuner.. he's a solid 3 hours away from me by interstate so I want my cruising AFR's to be alright

Thanks guys!

You splice it into C16 for the signal and ground it to D9.

Make sure your O2 cal table is configured properly as well. The UEGO gauge calls for a different calibration than the inline controller.

I have mine spliced into C18 too. I don't believe there is any issue with either D9 or C18, according to the manual it says less than 1v at all times on either pins.

Maybe the person before you didn't wire up the ground? Since I know the instructions doesn't specifically say you must use a ground.

I'm pretty sure it will read full lean at idle if it's not grounded.
