I recently added an aftercooler to my Comptech SC system. One surprise was the change in the engine sound. Before the aftercooler install the WOT intake burble was a lot louder and more aggressive sounding. Now, it's definitely more muted. Has anyone else noticed this?

 

Wouldn't doubt it, your basically adding a small resonating chamber that could muffle a LITTLE noise.

 

just wondering, did you notice any difference with the butt dyno? I think you lose some psi with the ac, so maybe they gains cancel out the loss?

 

No, I didn't notice any difference in performance. My purchase of the aftercooler was more about keeping temps lower for safety and preparing for future power upgrades.

 

Comptech dyno'd around 10 more hp by adding it, so, barring any impact the extra weight of the unit and the fluid, which may be neglible, you out to notice something.

It's been so long since I added it that I really recall if I noticed a difference.
