Default Anyone with h22 piston knowledge?

As most of you know i run the f24c with stock h22a pistons (87mm)..During the rebuild i spent countless hours reading and researching different prelude forums where countless people have said the pistons fail on anything above 300hp+..Then i heard from two knowledgable people that its all in the tune. With proper tuning you can take these pistons above 300+.

Im currently tuned on 91 at 9psi at 285whp.
There are plans once i get more seat time to up the injectors to 1000cc or bigger and up the boost on e85.
Does anyone have any prior experience with these pistons under boost? Is it safe to turn the boost up on 91 with these pistons?
If so dyno #'s would be great to back this. Have a few more opinions would help with this!. Thanks in advance guys!

OEM S2000 pistons are Fordged are the H22 pistons Fordged? If not then i'd wouldnt push it.

You probably be better off with an OEM s2000 2.2 block and a really good tune honestly if you want more power under boost.

But I have NO idea what the h22 pistons are made out of so its all reliant on that factor. Whats your compression?

if the h22s are forged then u should be ok with a few more psi, if they are not then I would just stay where you are now

To my knowledge, H22 pistons are FRM compliant, but not forged.

Ask you tuner what he thinks.

Tuner isnt familiar with these pistons at all.. As previously stated these pistons are CAST, not forged as the f20 pistons are.
i specifically dont want a 2.2 or 2.0, this is a drift car/motor setup so the 2.4 is absolutely needed for tq. The tuner doesnt want to test it until hes seen proven results. I dont want to go off of someones word thats why i was curious if anyone had an prior experience.

On race gas or e85 i would feel more then confident but not on crappy 91.

I had a h22 swap in my old accord and I read everything I could on the h22 motors. Everything about boost i read was don't do it. Anything over 6-8psi would blow it up.

9psi is brave. I'd save up and build a sleeved 2.4l motor with forged pistons and make 400hp

PM marcucci. He was the resident prelude guy in Dallas and is now the S2000 mechanic in Dallas. He would definately know and I would trust whatever he says.

oem h22 pistons are junk.. I cant even begin to tell you how many STOCK motors i have torn down to find busted ring lands.

becides, the whole h22 piston'd f24 stroker is so wrong its not funny.

pin offset isnt right, dome shape isnt right, skirt profile isnt right, compression height isnt right... just because it "fits" doesnt mean its right.

Yeah I wasn't going to be the first one to say it but whats the point if after all that work you cant even break 300whp? Even a greddy kit with a completely stock motor can achieve that...

One the motor was built by design craft so i have more then enough confidence in the build. Second, this is a DRIFT CAR not a 9000rpm 20psi+ reving monster that u guys run. Anything in drifting over 300 is OVERKILL.
Wadzi, if u look at the turbo magazine build for the 2.4l the skirts, everything was done right. Ive had a few reputable people check this out and got the green light to rebuild it. The article in the magazine is of my actual motor. http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0609turp...uild/index.html
Again, i didnt build this car like this, but i wouldnt change the 2.4 for anything. Thanks for the info jaundice.
