anybody asking the question, "which model s2k is better?" needs to watch battles at 10,000rpm. that'll answer all your questions. if you cant trust what tsuchiya san has to say about the ap2, i dont kno what to tell you.

the most important thing to remember is this. it doesn't matter which model you get. you will have a hell of time driving either model.
BMI # 19 lol Yeah im a loser...watched it over and over.

the 2.2 in the ap2 will spool the turbo more quickly. Additionally the due to the displacement increase you will make more power. Not a huge amount but its still measurable. Stock to Stock the 2.2 makes about 5-15whp MORE than the ap1 2.0, Add boost and things get even more fun.

9k is fun and all but honestly WHY if you can make more power sooner? Especially in the much needed TQ department.

justin,

do yourself a favor and rent/buy/borrow/steal (jk) battles at 10,000 rpm. ap1 owners will state ap1 and vise versa. tsuchiya san on the other hand is a respected japanese race car driver. if he says ap2 is superior over the ap1 in terms of handeling, that should be good enough for you. if your concern is straight line performance, it doesn't matter which model you get. they're about the same.

[QUOTE=vtec9,Jan 22 2007, 10:05 AM] Ap2 has more torque and hp throughout the rpm range, but has 1000 less rpms for putting down high hp.

does going to 9000 rpm actually hurt/damage the engine?

this is the most civilized ap1 vs ap2 thread i've read. 8]

do yourself a favor and buy a 04-05 model, swap in a f20c(ap1 engine) and uhhhh...o yea switch out the dash for the jdm o4-o5's. there you go.;]

in terms of handling, ap2's retuned suspension geometry makes it handle better and less tail happy. straight line's the same.

f22c is better for boost. more torque spools the F/I systems faster and there's no replacement for displacement.

seems like i wanted a ap2, for the looks and handling, but im a sucker for 9krpm redline. but honestly, to people that wont track the car weekly, you won't feel much difference between the two cars, except they're both on rails. you'll have fun with either model choice and you won't be disappointed. GL dude
