Default For autocross, which combo?

I have two engines available to me and two different FI systems. Trying to come up with the best combination. Was initially thinking of the 2.2L + turbo, but concerned about running out of gear too soon (the rest of the car including tranny is AP1) or having to use 3rd a lot autocrossing.

Nothing wrong with exceeding the factory rev the f22 if your worried about running out of gear, rev it if you need to, mine sees 9k regularly on stock motor. I think the added lower rpm trq/hp of the f22 would be beneficial, and the SC a bit more predictable/forgiving on the course.

For autocross I voted for the high boost F20C CTSC. If you were doing a time attack style or HPDE race i would go with the Twin Scroll turbo set up on and F22C.

I'd run a supercharged 2.2 for autocross personally.

We did the high boost SC last season and it's fun! But I still wish we had some low-end torque. Evos and STis do well with a 4-banger + turbo... The RX-7s do well with turbos too...

I think I'm going to try a turbo this year.

What engine should I run? 2.0 with 3mm headgasket or 2.2 OEM.

f22 if you want to run the turbo, but remember that the evos and sti are awd.. you'll be more prone to spinning out in turns if your boost curve is not linear

Do the AP1 block with AP2 head to take advantage of the retainers. Then run the higher boosted supercharger setup. I think that would be your best bet. I know my turbo setup is terrible for autocross, even with boost by gear it's kinda uncontrollable.

OR he could just swap the retainers... it's been done thousands of times...

I love my autoxing my car. I have only spun it twice and that was because I was trying too hard. LOL. The last time was at the very last set of cones about 15 feet from the finish. I normally am one of the faster cars there.

I vote anything turbo.
