Default Autronic EMS in an S2000?

I will be installing an Autronic engine management system in my S2000 with my LoveFab turbo kit. Has anybody else used Autronic in the S2000? I hear nothing but good things about it, and there is one hell of an Autronic tuner here on the island that will be able to install and tune it for me. Just wanted some input from other users if there are any. If you don't know what Autronic is, check out their website:

We used to use the Autronic ECU and an MSD ignition for years on VT Formula. We never had any problems with it.

Eventually we moved on to a Performance Electronics ECU due to cost analysis, but the Autronic is a quality piece.

Why not go with the AEM EMS? Seems to be the tuner standard nowadays (and for good reason). It can do pretty much anything and it is relatively user friendly if you have the common sense to read the user's manual.

Belive it or not, like any product AEM is not liked by all people, especially out here. There are several highly respected tuners on the island and most of them said they would not waste their time tuning an AEM unit for me. The rest said that they simply didn't use AEM and were not familiar with the program, and I didn't want to be the first one they tried it on. Simply put, AEM does not have much of a following here in Hawaii.

Disclaimer: I AM NOT BASHING AEM AND DO NOT WANT FEEDBACK ABOUT WHY HAWAII TUNERS ARE WRONG OR STUPID IN THIS THREAD.

They have a right to their opinion and that is simply how the tuner shops I talked to in my area feel. The only way for me to get a tuner who knows AEM and the S2000 very well is to fly them out here, and my Navy pay is not going to cover that. It was for this reason I asked Cody to leave the AEM equipment out of my order when I bought a LoveFab kit.

On the other hand, Autronic is also a highly respected company with a strong following. There is also an Autronic installer here on the island who is considered one of the best. It may cost more, and it isn't plug and play, but it does appear to be as good or better than AEM and I don't have to fly somebody here that knows what they are doing. If I lived on the mainland it would have been a different story. I'll keep you guys posted on how the Autronic works out. I plan to have it done by mid-December.

Funny that I heard the same from a BIG tuner from Australia (how AEM sucks and how it's loosing it's tune)...but he ended up saying that if he was about to spend to less than 1500USD, he would get AEM he he

Autronics are popular in Aus from memory, and I know a fair few Subaru owners who run the also.

Cant comment on the product though, as I have no experience with it.

The Autronic are good units. I have used a few on my race cars.

They work best with hall effect pickups so you will need to modify your crank/cam pickups to get the best out of them. They can use a magnetic sensor convertor but I've found them prone to interference.

The after sales support from Autronic is a little sparse. They guy who builds them is a great techo but doenst have the resources for a good help desk, documentation or web site.

If you have a good local dealer who can also update firmware and tune it for you then it will be a good product. The Autotune software is really trick and can save hours of dyno time.

Chris.

Autronic is pretty cool. I wonder if the Honda PnP Autronic ECU will work on a S2000 with an adapter wiring harness + a few other changes.
