That's exactly what they said back in the early 80s when Latham was building them.

And that's exactly why it never went anywhere. Maybe modern manufacturing techniques will make it affordable.

I believe the RX-8 forum said they were going to be under 4K. Not sure if that was just for the charger or a kit.

Hey guys, I'm a member over at rx8club and I've kept up with what's going on with the 8's version. Last I heard their plan for engine management was going to be with COBB tuning (COBB RX-8 forum). They were supposed to have sent it over to cobb for them to work some tuning out, but neither COBB or RP have mentioned how that went. What I do know is that RP will be at sevenstock this weekend (huge rotary event). He has said if someone brings a video camera that they will be able to video it working to get an idea of how it sounds and looks. Not sure if this is supposed to be the final product or not, but there will be a working model it seems. I'll post a link here if we do get a video up in the next couple of days.

Thanks CC. We've been waiting a long time for Richard to get the RX8 system working, and I can't wait to see the results.

it's a different design, so everything about it had to be designed specifically for this product. Unfortunately the news I've heard so far about the AFSC is not too great. From what one person has said, little progress has been made and they were unimpressed this year. I'm still going to hold out for it though. Not too sure exactly what's holding them back atm, but I think it might be tuning still. Hopefully we'll be hearing a bit from RP soon to fill us in a bit on what's happening. Till then, hope others are as patient as I am.
