theoretically you could raise bar with supercharger but you may also want to consider changing many other parts such as fuel pump, fuel injectors, internal parts and so. which may also raise price on the kit that it would be compatible to using turbo kit... something you might want to consider as well.

But if it operates at similar pressure as other SC kit, you won't need all that. if the price is compatible, this does have advantage that it has smaller foot print.

Next is to look at the adapability to the car itself. Over the next few weeks we will be delving into the nuts and bolts of the Honda to decide if we go ahead with this.

Your needs and opinions will be important to us in making this decision.

I went over and looked at the development thread Richard has on RX8 clubs website. It's huge, I got lost quickly. There are lots of helicopter and aircraft mechanics etc chiming in over there.

It's interesting reading

Richard,

This idea sounds really great. However, I think it will be hard to capture most of the S2K market since production is limited and many cars are still under the manufacture's or Honda Care warranties. From what I understand, if an authorized Comptech dealer installs a Comptech Supercharger on my 04, it will not void Honda's warranty. This is what leans me toward the Comptech. I can only imagine Honda's reaction when I take my car in for repair and they notice the "jet engine compressor" bolted to it.

...just my .02

Although this is slightly off the topic, I'd like to comment on this.
So far, it has not been clearly ascertained if this statement is true. I believe the Manufacturers basic warranty is void and certainly any extended warranty is also void as soon as you install a Comptech supercharger. However, if it is done by an "authorized" Comptech dealer and installer (being a Honda or Acura dealer), an "arrangement or understanding" is reached between Comptech and said dealer to "look after" you should something go wrong. Honda USA (or wherever in the world you may be) will no longer be involved. You should confirm this with an "authorized" dealer. And for anyone who has had major work covered while sporting a Comptech system, you should be able to trace who exactly footed the bill for those repairs.

Nevertheless, I know what you are trying to say.

It is my belief that the manufacturers warranty is never voided, it just that claims in any way related to the engine and drive train will in all probability be rejected.

It is also my understanding that the implied warranty from an 'Authorised' dealer is between the purchaser, the dealer and Comptech and neither Honda nor AHM have anything to do with it.

I should have stipulated that those parts that are related to the Comptech kit would void the manufacturer's warranty. Obviously, if your power door locks fail, this would still be honored.

Hmmm, Calgary, I've been there and raced at a place called Gimley. On an old WWll airfield. Noted mostly for the airport where an out of fuel airliner glided into during a race. Remember that Xviper?

Keller, your a little far away, we are in So. California.
We will buy a car to do the testing with. That way I can be a ligitament member of your forum.
