Hmmm, Calgary, I've been there and raced at a place called Gimley. On an old WWll airfield. Noted mostly for the airport where an out of fuel airliner glided into during a race. Remember that Xviper?
A movie, what movie? I think I raced there for the first race on the track ever. I remember they just paved it and our tires were pulling up some of it. That wa a Formula Atlantic race in '73 or '74. I think the following year it rained and it is so tight that it was a handfull. They started calling it Grimly.
About that plane. If I remember right they sanctioned the pilot and co pilot for that. It was my opinion they should have gotten metals. One was a glider pilot and the other had landed on that feild with bombers in WWll. What better combination could you ask for?

The pilots were not fired. In fact, it is a widely recognized example of outstanding response to an in-flight incident. The responsibility for the fuel problem was blamed on the Air Canada system, not the individuals who implemented it. The process of manually calculating the fuel load had not been updated to reflect the shift to metric units.
Glad they weren't fired. I flew Air Canada every two weeks for years back then when I ran the Players Canadian Formula Atlantic series. As far as Newfoundland.
That place was a trip.
So AusS2000 I don't know how far Steve is from you but try the e mail. I'm sure if nothing else you will meet a real car guy. Great sense of humor, but then again that's an Aussie trait isn't it? As in TellthesillybastardIsentyou
They tell me it's an Aussie thing? I've adopted it 'cause it is fun.

We have great a great sense of humour but our ESP is lousy. I think it's due to depletion of the ozone layer.
It was in the other thread on shifters. Steve is a user of my shifter who lives in your part of the world. Check that thread for address. I also have some other freinds down under. Are you familar with Hymee Enhanced?
Or the beer.
