Thumbs up bad bearings and seal will result?

Hi guys,

I know this is a super noob question , but I don't know anything about superchargers. So thanks in advance guys!!!

Some of you guys might remeber that I bought a used CTSC a few months back. When I putted on the kit, it was showing normal boost at intake manifold, but my car's HP hasn't gone up a bit. My shop did whole bunch of tests (compression test, checking out the cat...) and concluded that it might be a bad blower. So we went ahead and sent the blower back to Paxton.

It took Paxton more than a month to get to my blower, but anyways, they ended up replacing the bearings and seal on the blower. So my question is, do you guys think that it was the cause that my car didn't make power (but still showing boost at intake)?? The whole process has put a dent in my wallet, so I am debating if I should put the kit back on now or not.

Thanks alot guys!!!!

but if he had boost and it was taking 75 hp to turn a blower with bad bearings he would not feel crap.

even at 5psi you will feel some extra kick, after vtec it will pull a whole lot harder but not make a ton more torque so sometimes it wont feel real fast but in reality it is. You should reinstall it and then have it dynoed, youve come this far.

I forgot what was my afr, all I remember it was in the "safe" range.

Naw it was nothing. It was making 195HP on the dyno.

No one yet knows what the cause for your lack of power was. You are the one with the most knowledge of the situation. Everyone here is just pointing out possibilities and things to help you try and figure it out. With very little to go on, so far.

I guess it's possible that the friction loss from bad bearings could just exactly cancel out the hp gained from 5 pounds of boost, but it seems like too much of a coincedence. It sounds like you were not getting boost to the engine. 195 rwhp is right at what the engine makes w/o boost.

Assuming you really did see 5 lbs of boost somewhere at the time, where was the gauge tap? If it's upstream of throttle body or BOV, then one of those could be dropping the boost. But the usual location for MAP sensor is right on the manifold, downstream of everything. Were you reading the MAP signal from ECU or looking at a gauge?

The past really doesn't matter much now, though. Slap the blower back on and see if it works. If it doesn't, more troubleshooting is necessary. Your tuner should be able to find the problem easily. If not, there are plenty of smart people on this board to help, if you can provide enough information.
