Default Best final drive gear ratio

I was thinking about going FI in the summer and wondered what would be the best final drive gear ratio? I've heard about people going lower to 3.90 Others have gone as high as 4.77 What are you're experiences and/or opinions. Thanks

I have been running 4.57's since I was n/a and love them. It helps us if you state your power goals, intented use of the car, and whether you are going with SC or turbo.

My goals are 400+ WHP supercharged. It's not a daily driver, just a weekend/track warrior that will see street time. I was looking at the Rotrex kit and it's power potential.

I had a Vortech with 4.77s at stock boost (7psi) and it was a great combination.

For a SC, gears are perfect, for a high powered turbo it can be argued either way.

Any specific final drive that would be the best? I was leaning towards 4.44s with a Puddy Mod diff for launching duties..

A 4.44 or 4.57 FD would be great for your setup. Traction will become an issue around 400rwhp with gears. When I roll on 245 rears I can easily spin the first three gears. I get a little more bite from my 265s.

Good point. I would mount 255s in the rear on my LE28s.
I'll be attempting to upgrade my rims to 275 or 285 size tires, might want to consider the same. I'll let you know how it goes when it comes time for that

(we have the same rim)

If you want 57's and reinforced diff, mine are going up for sale later this week *back on topic*
