Big difference between turbo S2k and supra?
Thinking about selling my 94 Supra TT soon. The only way I would get an S2k is with a turbo or SC. First with the right kit will it pull near as hard as my supra (405whp & 412tq, 12.3 @ 118.56), or will I be dissapointed? Next I want the power to come up quicker say between 3-4k rpm's. Between the SC and the turbo which will achieve this better?
Thanks
Thanks
i am guessing you are gonna go turbo. get a kit lovefab, inline, full race, etc. and put a GT35R turbo on, fully spooled around 5000rpm. turbo is good for 600whp, the car will pull very hard
I'm not sure if you have ever driven an S2K before, but you can easily get your turbo to spool up under 4k rpm, but there is no way that you are going to be making any type of serious power down that low. Torque will NEVER be as high as it was on your Supra or come on as fast, but it will certainly spool up and revv much faster then your current car. It is a different animal all together, but you can build a very quick turbo S2K if that is what you are after. Add a 2mm headgasket on a GT35R and you can hit your power goals easily. Just remember to go with a reliable kit (inlinepro, lovefab, etc) and don't chince on the engine managment (I would go AEM EMS). Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.
BTW, from reading your post, there is almost no way in hell that you would be happy with a SC'er.

honestly, it prob. wont feel as fast as your supra because of torque but it def. will be as fast if not faster at 405whp on the s2000. Ive driven a twin turbo g35 with 505whp and 470 torque and thought it would rip my car a new asshole but when we go at it im always on top by a car or so. Also just recent i took a co-workers 95 accord built h22 turbo making 300whp and 300 torque and thought it would take my ca but yet again my car comes up on top. Just food for thought.
Is there a difference?? For some reason every time people see my car I hear Supra and S2000 together
Just kidding. I've driven both a 400whp Supra and a 400whp S2000. The seat dyno will tell you the Supra is a much faster car. However as stated earlier in this post a 400whp S2000 will walk on an equally powered Supra. I've seen it. And when I say walk I mean each gear pulls lengths. However if your looking for a torque monster of a car but you want an S2000 check my pic below if you have any questions feel free to PM me.
Both cars have great attributes. And if I must say so my self there is always something very exciting about being able to take a Turbo "f20c" S2000 all the way to 9000rpm. I've only had one thing be more of a rush and it

And Luis (PRS2K) hit 12.2 on his old InlinePRO turbo setup on less than 10 psi of boost on stock compression. 350 rwhp - Luis, you should post that dyno for him
The s2k turbo experience is quite different than most turbo cars. A turbo 940 volvo wagon feels faster down low because it makes torque. Up until 5k rpms, you're going to be thinking (wtf?) as the torque is just not there... you're making power there (maybe 200 rwhp up until VTEC) but you just won't feel much. but once you hit VTEC (on tubular manifold you can set it as low as 4000 in some cases), the rush is INSANE!!! Think of your entire RPM band right now... and now think being squeezed into our 5k-9k VTEC area. That rush is something I've never encountered in another turbo vehicle - you literally have about 1/4 second to shift at 9K redline after you've hit the 5K area and you're in VTEC and fully spooled.
The revs come on so quickly, and the first time I drove a turbo S (last week
10 psi on 9:1 compression making "only" 370 hp - his 15 psi setting was at 450 rwhp), I had a huge adrenaline rush and started laughing. If you do go with the S2K, it'll be a different experience, but you'll love it nonetheless. Plus, the small go-kart handling is another thing altogether.
I get my car back in about two weeks and I'm shooting for those same numbers, a 10psi setting around 360-370, and a 15 psi setting around 450. I can not wait
Oh, and yeah, ditch the SC idea if you're coming from the Supra world. The only kits out there are centrifugal setups and you have to realize how our powerband works.
