Default Boost Creep PFAB stage 2 precision 5858

Hey guys, the title tells most if not all of the story.

I have a 44mm TIAL wastegate with a 10psi spring installed.. I took my car to the tuner a few weeks back and he raised my fuel cut off to 13 psi and adjusting my fuel and timing tables. My car feels a lot better, and the AFR's are cleaner.. but my issue is that I hit around 10 PSI somewhere in the 5-5.5k rpms range.. and it flatlines there for a little.. then suddenly it starts creeping up until I hit fuel cut off(normally around 7700-7800 out of my 8500 redline.. What sucks is, I'm not getting the power of the 12 PSI until it's too late.. and then when it finally hits it, my car hits fuel cut. I will say he didn't mess around with my boost solenoid settings at all.. He didn't touch my wastegate duty settings.. could that cause this issue?

He pretty much told me the only way to fix it is to change out springs or add another wastegate.. I'm not sure what to trust and I'm wondering if anyone has ran across this same issue/what you did to fix it.

Also, on my tune there isn't really adequate space to even set up my boost solenoid because it hops from 10.1psi to 12.5 to 15 or whatever.. There's no 11, or 12 to fool around with to kinda taper off the duty settings of the wastegate.

Thanks fellas!

If your useing the boost solonoid just unhook the solonoid. Then you will only run on the spring pressure of the wastegate. If this solves your issue then You have a problem with the settings of the boost solonoid in the ems. If this does not solove you problem and it's still boost creeping when your only running off the wastegate spring and no boost controller then you have a problem with the design of the turbo manifold. The fullrace ram horn had this issue and they made the elbow for the wastegate inlet of their manifold bigger. The ptunning manifold also has this problem and requires a exhaust restrictor if you running less than 17psi.

To fix this you can mod the manifold for a bigger wastegate. Or You can run a less free flowing exhaust or run a restrictor plate in the exhaust like the ptunning turbo system. This causes more back pressure in the exhaust system so more exhaust gas will be able to go out the wastegate.

Realistically even on straight 91 octane you should be able to run 14psi of boost. I know I do.

Thanks a lot man,

I'm not sure why I didn't think of this earlier because I'm running+ got tuned on open downpipe.. When I ran it through a 3 to 2.5 inch pipe with a resonator on it with my previous tune it would never have this issue.. Hopefully it doesn't rob tons of power though

I had a similar problem, but with a short runner manifold. Even with a small spring, I would creep up to 11-12psi just off the wastegate. I can imagine it only getting worse with a more equal-length, better flowing manifold.

I eventually added a tial mvs, and could hold 6psi to redline through a 6262.

What sucks is I have a tial mvr 44mm... I would love to hope it could flow enough. Sucks man. I really thought I wouldn't run into a million issues when boosting a car, especially with quality parts. Boy was I wrong. Ty for the help mates.

I have the same manifold. With the older tail 44mm wastegate. During my dyno tune the boost pressure would fluctuate a little. And one time it did jump up to 21psi. But at the end of the tunning session boost held steady.

I had a problem with my car. Was boost creeping like a bitch. From like 30 to 36psi. Added a second wastegate. Still creeped. Turned out it was the tune. Wasted a lot of time and money to fix something that wasn't a real problem.
