There is a difference between road speed and rear wheel speed.
The max attained speed in a given gear does not change, so it really does not matter.

It's still the same thing. Ultimately you're using speed [sensor] for a trigger. Set it at the speed that works best for what you're trying to achieve.

every thing on the market right now will do boost by gear, aem v2 and infinity can do boost by gear or speed, or time, or ethanol content, or throttle % or rpm, or whatever else you want boost by. AEM v1 only does by speed, throttle and rpm, hondata only does by gear.

For most cars with v2 boost by gear works fine, personally I like blending the 2, so I can roll in boost after the gear change to help keep traction better.
