Default Bov replacement on Comptech System

Howdy...

I'm currently running a comptech supercharger (9 lbs up to 12 lbs boost) with a FMIC. The bosch bov that came with the original aftercooler setup was leaking so after some searching here I replaced it with a Turbosmart Kompact valve. Since i'm not recirculating I have it set to vent off the excess boost. Unless i'm at idle or WOT the valve pretty much vents constantly (kind of a fluttering noise) while driving. Is this normal? I thought maybe the spring was too soft but that wouldn't make sense considering it's for turbo applications which run higher boost than i'm running.

TIA

Read this thread from a while back which was helpful. One guy posted this:

You need something really loose like a Greddy Type-R or Type-S, etc. Do a search for others that also work. It sounds exactly like your issue as the s/c bov will stay open at idle (you make like ~1psi of boost at idle). The HKS just springs closed.
I did note that when I installed the BOV, even on the hardest spring setting the piston stayed open slightly. However, following the general install instructions (probably for a turbo motor) it said to make sure the piston was closed at idle. To make it close I added in some shims to make the piston fully close. Considering a s/c does make a little bit of boost at idle should I remove the shims and set it so the piston is slightly open?

I had the same problem. My setup is a novi 1000 with FMIC and 3.0' pulley. I installed a synapse bov and was fluttering. The problem wasn't the spring. The novi 1000 blows too much air that this kind of bovs can't handle. SO we thought that might be a good idea to install a second bov. So we did and the result was excellent. No fluttering no nothing. Works perfect.

Where are you getting your vacuum source? Shouldn't the BOV be open at idle? Well at least for mines its constantly blowing off air at idle and closes as you get on the throttle.

I was hoping to post up some pics but looks like my car needs another pump the car made 389whp very easily at 7000rpm which kind of puzzled me because I was expecting a bit more from a 340lph pump. But anyway when I do get the car back I can post up some pics
