Broken Comptech SC tensioner pulley!
This was poseted in the "under the hood" section. Feel free to remove that one. I think I will get a better response and advice here in FI...
-------
From boost to no boost in the sieze of a bearing
I was cruising the highway on my way to NYC for a Sunday seminar and I heard a loud object bang underneath my car. I was 99% sure I didnt hit anything, so I got off the exit and checked my tires(less than 200 miles old). No problems with the tires...It seemed as if the car was very sluggish, almost stock-powered
, though I attributed it to being clutch slippage due to it being worn. I thought the clutch was on its last leg.....So I went on with the drive... shortly after, I saw the boost gauge wasnt reading boost, so I popped the hood when I got to my destination on Park Ave.
The loud noise and the what I had run over was my tentioner pulley..
Excuse my poor photography skills.... As you can see, the bearing has seized, and stands with about 1/3 of the balls left in it now. The pulley must have spun until it melted

Wow...I can really read the words on that stove. What's that blur blocking the focus of the picture?

I was thinking the same thing...
This has happened to other people in the past including myself.
What happens is the plastic pulley that sits on the bearing cracks off. Now the SC belt rubs against the exposed bearing and the heat generated from the friction cooks the bearing causing it to seize. You can also end up with a shredded SC belt and lots of rubber fragments all over the engine bay.
Check your return line and make sure it didn't shift from the belt hitting it.
