I spoke with English racing about this and I was told the exact opposite about gear separation.

I believe you are right, helical gears causes separation, the only down side of straight cut gears is the noise if road driven.

It's on the top of the casing for reference, it might of had a crack in it when I brought it secondhand but never looked that close at it. I'm thinking about going for PPG dog set but unsure. If I do I will weld bracing on to the case for strengthening. I'm running 455whp at 26psi on a gt30 but it's in the UK so will be a lot more if dynoed in the US. Will be running NOS soon then at Xmas putting a 2.2 crank in the motor and may put a gt35 so I need to find a solution for the box.
Thanks for the info, update with some pics if you ever get a chance.

I got locked out of 1st gear in my stock AP2 trans. Had ~48k on it, maybe only 3k of those boosted.

Rolled into first while already moving, and as soon as it hit boost, it went right to redline, thought it just spun, and came to a stop, and it never would go back into 1st after that.

Drove it the rest of the season from 2-6th, lol.

I have a stock rear end/axles as well. A few years ago, I bought upgraded bushings, and it seems to really help, I'm hoping that helps keep the flex to a minimum, we will see. I plan on launching this thing now that I have some decent tires on it.
