Buying first S2k and Comptech SC........
Hello all,
I have been on these forums researching for the past two months and have finally registered. So here goes my first post.
I have decided on an 04-05 S2k and will be going with the Comptech SC. I have chosen the Comptech because most dealers will not void my warranty with it, and it seems all of you have had great luck with it. I have not decided on a good street suspension and brake package to go with the SC yet unfortunately.
My question is one that has been asked 1k times before I'm sure. Aftercooler or no aftercooler? I have read that many people have been running without the aftercooler for a long time (with great success), but I'm wondering if there is anyone here that has ran without and then upgraded. I'm curious to find out how much more life expectancy you get out of the engine with the addition of the aftercooler. I plan on only tracking the car 1-3 times per year, and I'm your average "aggressive" two-in-the-morning driver on the streets. Any insight will be appreciated, thanks.

The dealers that I'm talkin price with right now have all agreed to allow a Comptech to exist with the factory warranty but will not allow any other FI setup. I'm also a big Comptech fan.

Congratulations on your decision to buy an S2000, its a good 'un!
With regards to the "shallI I go aftercooled or non-aftercooled" question;
You should go with the aftercooled option if you are in an area with a hot climate and you intend on doing a lot of track days. Anything that keeps the intake temperatures down is a good thing.
Besides, it is more expensive to buy it later, if you really need it! We "lucky" folks in the UK can live without the aftercooler!

If you intend in any way to upgrade your boost..... get the aftercooler. From the sounds of your driving style...it will only be a matter of time....so get the aftercooler. JMO.

The BRP kit won't be friendly with any dealer. With that much more torque all over...the whole drivetrain is going to take a LOT more abuse than the centrifugal kits.
That being said, if you want the car to feel like you dropped a souped up M3 motor in it, get the BRP kit

The M3 was actually one of my top choices, except the convertible sucked compared to the hardtop, thus eliminating it from my choices. Top always down!
I think I'll go with the after-cooler even though the weather doesn't get too bad here (NJ), because at some point I'll wanna void that warranty and go crazy.
